What is My Digital World Ethiopia?
As millions of Ethiopians come online to interact with their peers, family, and the wider community, it becomes increasingly essential for them to understand how to navigate responsibly and safely in the digital space to take full advantage of what the internet has to offer. That is why it is important to raise awareness about responsible online behaviour, critical thinking, and societal issues that are frequently discussed through digital technology to promote safe, responsible, and useful usage of the platforms.
Digital Learning, Digital Foundation, Digital Wellness, Digital Engagement, Digital Empowerment, and Digital Opportunities will be the six focus areas of the programme.
Why we are running this program?
The programme aims to raise awareness about responsible online behavior, critical thinking, and societal issues that are frequently discussed through digital technology.
Within this overall objective, the programme seeks to understand, articulate, and provide insight on issues affecting young Ethiopians aged 13-18 around digital wellbeing and responsible online behaviour.
Who will take part in the programme?
Selected private high schools in Addis Ababa will collaborate with KEMMCOM to carry out the programme. Selected schools will provide training facilities for students, as well as select ICT teachers for the programme and make them available for TOT sessions that will be run by KEMMCOM.
We train ICT teachers from private schools all around Addis Ababa with 6 training modules. The teachers will then take part in an assessment prepared and then proceed to train students. Certificates will be issued for the teachers at the end of the programme.
Students will be trained in their schools by their ICT teachers as a complementary after-school programme, take part in an assessment, and get certified.
